Cholera epidemics are reemerging worldwide since the last decade, mainly due to:
  • Rapid urbanization of many cities in developing countries, where water and sanitation infrastructure are not financed by governments;
  • Profound environmental changes such as global warming, which play a role in the proliferation of the cholera bacteria in the environment (Source: Cholera and Climate change : a demonstrated relationship, Constantin de Magny G., Colwell R., 2009).
